Top Gun 3 in the works at Paramount
Top Gun 3 is currently in the works at Paramount, it has been reported.
Deadline has said that Top Gun: Maverick co-writer Ehren Kruger is currently writing a draft, with the project involving Tom Cruise as well as stars of the sequel Miles Teller and Glen Powell.
Key players are also set to return behind the scenes, with Jerry Bruckheimer and David Ellison returning as producers, and Joe Kosinski as either a director or producer.

This news, not yet confirmed by Paramount, perhaps isn’t a surprise considering the huge success of Maverick.
The sequel to 1986 classic Top Gun was the highest grossing movie worldwide in 2022 at $1.49 billion, making it the highest grossing film of Cruise’s career and signalling continued interest in the franchise.
It also earned a total of six Oscar nominations at the 95th Academy Awards, including a nomination for Best Picture and a win for Best Sound.
Producer Bruckheimer previously played down the chances of a third film, refusing to reveal whether the action franchise might return in the future.
He said: "We’re just enjoying this one. I have no idea. It took 35 years to make Top Gun: Maverick so… I’m not going to be around another 35 years."

Meanwhile, Cruise is currently shooting the next instalment of another iconic film series, Mission: Impossible 8, another project for Paramount.
However, last year’s Hollywood strikes mean that the release date has been pushed back to May 2025.
Cruise will, of course, return as Ethan Hunt, alongside Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Hayley Atwell as Grace and Vanessa Kirby as the White Widow.
There are also plenty of new faces joining the next movie, including Hannah Waddingham, Nick Offerman, Mark Gatiss, Holt McCallany, Charles Parnell and Janet McTeer.
