Trailer Arrives For Jerry Lewis's First Lead Role In Two Decades

The legendary Jerry Lewis has appeared in gradually fewer and fewer movies since the late 90s, shifting from household name to something of a Hollywood recluse.

However, the trailer for ‘Max Rose’ has now arrived online, marking the 90-year-old comedy star’s first leading role for more than 20 years.

An early cut of the movie was shown in Cannes in 2013, but it’s getting a proper release in the autumn.

In it, Lewis stars as the namesake Max Rose, a jazz and blues pianist who discovers that his late but beloved wife of 65 years may have been unfaithful to him, shaking his life to its foundations.

Struggling with his anger and failing health, he embarks on a journey into his past, hoping to find out what may have happened and track down the man who may have been her lover, played by Dean Stockwell.

It features a solidly impressive cast too, including Kevin Pollack and 'Argo’ star Kerry Bishé as his son and granddaughter, along with Illeana Douglas and Fred Willard.

Though he, oddly, appeared as the voice of the stationmaster in 'Curious George 2: Follow That Monkey!’, Lewis’s acting roles have been few and far between in recent years.

His last lead was in 'Funny Bones’ opposite Oliver Platt in 1995.

There’s no UK release date slated for 'Max Rose’ as yet, but it’s released in the US in September.
