Siobhán McSweeney is set to host 'The Traitors Ireland'.

The 'Derry Girls' actress and TV presenter will be fronting the Irish edition of the hit show - which sees the Faithful contestants try to find the Traitors among them in a game of bluff - after versions in the UK, US and the Netherlands.

She said in a statement: "Like everyone, I am a huge 'Traitors' fan so when I was asked to host the Irish version I jumped at the chance.

"I'm looking forward to meeting our loyal Faithful and delicious Traitors.

"The Irish have a charm and ability to deceive while smiling which will make this version rather special, I think.

"And I'm the luckiest person in the world to watch them close up."

Siobhán - who played Sister Michael in the Channel 4 sitcom - has been praised for her "comic and dramatic range" and producers have high hopes as she follows in the footsteps of Claudia Winkleman, who is returning for a third series of the UK version on New Year's Day.

RTÉ's Director of Video Steve Carson added: "Siobhán is an incredibly talented actor with a great comic and dramatic range.

"We know that she is going to bring something really special to Ireland's version of this fantastic game of trust and deceit."

Earlier this year, a nationwide casting call was sent out to bring together a "diverse group of players" for the spinoff, which has been filmed on location in Ireland.

There is €50,000 at stake, with survivors who make it to the finale getting a chance to claim the prize pot, while an undetected Traitor could walk away with the money.

Meanwhile, Claudia recently teased that the UK edition will feature a big "twist" with the team keeping things fresh.

She recently said: "The new contestants can watch previous series, but that doesn’t mean it will necessarily help them…

"How can it? Every series has a whole new bunch of players, with different minds, and different interpretations of the game.

"And like any good murder mystery, the plot is always full of twists and turns. There’s one twist this year which will hopefully have viewers on the edge of their seat."
