The book, originally published online under the name 'The Office', was written by Christina Hobbs and Lauren Billings under the single pen-name Christina Lauren and has since been published by major publisher Simon & Schuster after it appeared online in 2009 and was downloaded two million times.

The plot has been compared to that of E.L. James' best-selling 'Fifty Shades of Grey', which also started life as 'Twilight' fan fiction, under the name 'Master of the Universe'.

The film will be produced by Jeremy Bolt, previously known for his work on the 'Resident Evil' franchise.
