The Umbrella Academy star lands next lead movie role
The Umbrella Academy's David Castañeda is reported to have secured the lead role in a Chalino Sánchez biopic.
According to Deadline, this project has been in development for some time now and will chronicle the legendary life of Rosalino Sánchez Félix, a cult hero of Mexico beloved for his contributions to the regional music scene of Narcocorrido (drug ballad).
Castañeda was one of thousands of actors to audition for the part and now it's understood that negotiations with him are heating up ahead of shooting commencing later this year.

Raised in the Mexican state of Sinaloa, Chalino moved to Los Angeles where he found a surprising career in music. Despite not owning the greatest of singing voices, he proved popular for his powerful lyrics.
During a return to Sinaloa for a performance in 1992, he was tragically murdered at the age of 31. Nobody was ever convicted of the crime.
As well as this movie, Castañeda also has John Wick spin-off Ballerina in the pipeline, in which he stars opposite Ana de Armas, Keanu Reeves, Anjelica Huston and Ian McShane.

Back in January of last year, de Armas hinted that she and Reeves are involved in a big brawl somewhere in the action movie, which is directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld).
"The other day, Keanu and I were rehearsing our very difficult stunt scene, and this man is just rolling and throwing me and doing crazy stunts," she recalled. "And I'm like — I can't complain anymore. Because he is doing it! He truly is the best."
The Umbrella Academy seasons 1-3 are now streaming on Netflix. Its fourth and final season premieres August 8.
