Adam Sandler’s new movie Uncut Gems currently has a 100 per cent rating on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.

The thriller, which premiered this weekend at the Telluride Film Festival, stars Sandler as a New York City jeweller and gambler.

Uncut Gems is the latest film from acclaimed directors Josh and Benny Safdie, whose previous credits include The Pleasure of Being Robbed, Daddy Longlegs, Heaven Knows What and Good Time.

Variety critic Peter Debruge wrote: “Uncut Gems feels like being locked inside the pinwheeling brain of a lunatic for more than two hours – and guess what: It’s a gas!”

K Austin Collins at Vanity Fair, meanwhile, praised Sandler’s performance, saying that the film “pushes his comic persona far toward the malicious insecurities that have long given Sandler his fire”.

Uncut Gems is released in the US on 25 December; a UK release date has not yet been revealed.
