Underworld 5’s Title Revealed

You might not have realised it, but there have actually been four ‘Underworld’ films. More than that, there’s actually a fifth ‘Underworld’ film on the way. And it’s now been revealed that the latest addition to the franchise will be called ‘Underworld: Blood Wars.’

Lakeshore Entertainment and Screen Gems confirmed the official title for the fifth ‘Underworld’ film, which will once again be led by Kate Beckinsale as Selene, while Theo James, Tobias Menzies, and Charles Dance will also feature.

But while the current concern is ‘Underworld: Blood Wars’ there are already plans to extend the franchise beyond this film.

Producer Len Wiseman, who not only directed the first three instalments to the ‘Underworld’ franchise but is also married to Kate Beckinsale, has confirmed that a sixth film is already in development, too.

Obviously, the release of a sixth ‘Underworld’ film will depend upon the success of ‘Blood Wars’. But the ‘Underworld’ films have proved to be a nice little money-spinner, grossing $458 million over the course of its four films.

That’s despite receiving overly negative reviews, with ‘Underworld: Awakening’ currently holding the franchise’s highest rating on Rotten Tomatoes with just 33%.

We’ll get to see if ‘Underworld: Blood Wars’ can top this when it’s released on October 21, 2016.
