This Is Us star Sterling K Brown has revealed he doesn’t have high hopes for this year's Oscars.
Brown is nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role in American Fiction, but he isn’t confident he’ll win. In fact, he’s placing his bets on Robert Downey Jr. to take the award (via Entertainment Weekly).
"I’mma tell you: Robert Downey Jr.’s gonna win, and he’s incredibly deserving. He’s an incredible actor. Like, you should give him love," he said on The Graham Norton Show on Friday (February 2).
"The fact that I get a chance to be nominated along with him and Mr. [Robert] De Niro and Ryan Gosling and [Mark] Ruffalo… I’m just happy to be in the room," he added.
Brown was joined on The Graham Norton Show by Dakota Johnson, Domhnall Gleeson and Colman Domingo, who has been nominated for Best Actor for his performance in Rustin.
"Colman will probably win," Brown said. "I know that I’m not going to win."
Despite his reservations, Brown’s This Is Us co-stars have shared their congratulations after hearing of the actor's nomination.
Other nominees for Best Supporting Actor include Mark Ruffalo for Poor Things, Robert De Niro for Killers of the Flower Moon, Robert Downey Jr. for Oppenheimer and Ryan Gosling for Barbie.
The 96th Academy Awards will air Sunday, March 10 2024 on ITV1 and ITVX.
