As one of the highest earning franchises in history, it’s only natural that its star Vin Diesel keeps us informed with teasing reveals here and there.

But now he’s taken to his Instagram account to show fans the first image from ‘Furious 8′ and confirm where the movie will be set.

‘New Roads Ahead’ is the tagline accompanying the gorgeous shot of a New York skyline, confirming to us that it’ll be set on the bustling streets of NYC.

Diesel had previously said the eighth film in the long-standing franchise will be heading to New York when he spoke to Jimmy Fallon on ‘The Tonight Show’.

“Something that people don’t know is the first movie came from a Vibe article that was about street races in New York, and the director and producer at the time reset the whole movie in LA,” Diesel explained during an appearance on the show. “But the Vibe article that the whole franchise was started from actually originated in New York. So, we’re finally bringing it back home, baby!”

‘Furious 8′ is being directed by F. Gary Grey (’Straight Outta Compton’) and is said to be taking a fresh approach to the usual heist movies we’re used to.

It’ll also mark the first one that will be totally absent of its late star Paul Walker, who sadly died during the filming of ‘Fast & Furious 7′. That film, released in 2015, made over $1.5 billion at the worldwide box office

‘Fast & Furious 8′ (as it’ll no doubt be dubbed in the UK) is in cinemas from 14 April, 2017.
