Vin Diesel talks 'body shaming' after viral 'dad bod' pictures
Vin Diesel has said that he’s had an insight into body-shaming, following the pictures of him that went viral last year.
Diesel was snapped with his top off and a fag on during a trip to Florida last year, looking distinctly larger than his usual buff physique.
And in an interview with Men’s Health magazine, he says the incident taught him a lot.
“Well, I was a new dad and that was my bod. That stupid episode gave me an idea of how bad body shaming can be,” he said.
“I’m okay because I’ve had the best body in New York City for decades.
“I work out less and enjoy it more these days. It’s a time in my week where I don’t have to juggle things. I can just exercise and be present in that.
“When I play Dominic in Fast, I want to look strong but authentic – not buff. But I never juiced – no effing way.”
The ever-modest Vin, who has 100 million fans on Facebook, and often posts messages and videos, also spoke about his private life.
“I’m an old-school Hollywood guy – like Harrison Ford or even Brando – who doesn’t want my private life out there in certain ways,” he said.
And as ever, he discussed his late co-star, Paul Walker, who died three years ago last month in a car crash, while filming ‘Fast & Furious 7’.
“I think about him every day. I think about him every time I look at my daughter,” he said.
“I have to process the loss of a brother and I also have to help millions of people process the loss of the most famous on-screen brotherhood in a generation, maybe forever.”
‘Fast & Furious 8’ is out in April, 2017.
