Some of the returning cast in Fast and Furious 7

Production on 'Fast and Furious 7' is well and truly underway with the shoot speeding ahead and racing towards the July 2014 release date. New director James Wan has replaced Justin Lin and many of the stars are returning but all does not bode well for the entire cast judging from the pictures being posted by star Vin Diesel on his Facebook page.

First fans were treated to a moody still of Vin Diesel's Dom and Paul Walker's Brian staring off into the distance and clearly being pretty annoyed (if not yet totally furious) about something. Speculation suggested this might be a reaction to the death of a cherished character in the unfolding fast car saga. Then snaps were leaked of the stars filming on location at an Atlanta cemetery, prompting further thoughts that all is not well in the world of 'Fast and Furious 7'.

Diesel's more recent pictures confirm that death is indeed coming to 'Fast and Furious 7' and fans should perhaps expect a more sombre tone in this entry in the franchise.

One still released shows Vin Diesel and other members of the gang including Paul Walker's Brian all dressed in black, and moping round a cemetery tree. Diesel's Dom is staring (again) angrily into the distance showing not only sadness but a steely determination to get some revenge for whatever has taken place. Even the car in the background of the shot is black as ink but it's the body language of Diesel and the others that suggests a mixture of depression, hopelessness but also a fierce desire to strike back.

In another still from the film, the crew including Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Ludacris and Tyrese Gibson are all doing some more standing and sitting around staring. The moody bunch look serious, lost in thought and are perhaps planning their own revenge on whoever is causing the carnage that has led them all to the cemetery. This still shows them at the old wooden structure glimpsed in the previous still released by Diesel. The 'Uyari' sign suggests this shot takes place in Turkey, 'Uyari' meaning 'Warning' in Turkish.

Behind the scenes

A final picture may not be a still from the film but it does show Diesel again on location at the cemetery, holding a tablet, and crucially with the ominous presence of a hearse in the background. Death, it seems, is most definitely coming to 'Fast and Furious7' and who fans will be saying goodbye to is a matter of intense speculation at the moment.

Which beloved character(s) do you think bite the dust in 'Fast and Furious 7'?

Pete is a cautious fan of the Fast and Furious films; enjoying the fast cars and furious fights but not so keen on the cheesy dialogue. However he's not going to be telling Vin Diesel that last bit any time in a hurry…
