Virgin Media viewers were left fuming last week when they lost access to 10 UKTV channels. And now they may not be able to watch the Love Island finale thanks to a long-standing row between ITV and Virgin Media.

The year-long dispute between ITV and Virgin Media has come to a head, with ITV demanding payment from Virgin Media for access to the channel.

Currently Virgin Media does not pay for ITV, but does for all other ITV channels (ITV2, ITVBe etc) and argues that ITV must remain free due to Broadcast Regulations.

The Guardian reports that ITV has written to Virgin Media threatening to pull all ITV content as soon as this weekend – if their new terms are not met.

The row is not directly related to UKTV, but The Guardian’s inside source claims ITV are using last week’s fallout as an “opportunity.”

Virgin Media responded to a disgruntled customer on Twitter with, “We continue to have constructive discussions with ITV. All ITV channels remain live on Virgin TV and we have no intention of removing them.”

Which channels will be affected?

Last week saw Virgin Media viewers lose access to 10 UKTV channels – including Dave, Gold and Really. If ITV network pull the plug with Virgin Media, Virgin Media viewers will lose access to:

  • ITV

  • ITV2

  • ITV3

  • ITV4

  • ITVBe

  • CITV
