Walking On Sunshine: Leona Lewis Makes Debut In First Trailer

The 2006 ‘X Factor’ winner launches her movie career in feel-good musical.

Former 'X Factor’ champ Leona Lewis is making her film debut in ‘Walking on Sunshine’ this summer.

The first trailer for the musical has landed and you can watch it in full above.

Leona plays Elena, the friend of lead character Taylor (Hannah Arterton, younger sister of Gemma) who travels abroad to her sister Maddie’s wedding, only to find her sister is about to marry the love of her life.

Hi-jinks and high-kicks surely ensue, all set to an insanely catchy back catalogue of pop classics.

Featuring covers of some of the biggest pop hits of the 80s including songs from Katrina and the Waves, Cyndi Lauper, Wham, and Madonna, the soundtrack is sure to be a big hit with the singalong crowd.

Sounds like ‘Mamma Mia!’ minus the Abba songs.

Leona Lewis told Digital Spy earlier this year that she was nervous about making her acting debut.

"I have done a lot of theatre work before, but it was quite a few years ago so getting back into that was kind of scary.

"It gave me a chance to learn a lot from the people on set and for a lot of people it was their first movie as well, so we kind of felt the nerves together.”

The 29-year-old singer was the biggest name to come out of Simon Cowell’s talent show until One Direction broke through in 2010.

She has enjoyed pop success on both sides of the Atlantic and is currently working on her fifth studio album.

‘Walking on Sunshine’ is out in cinemas on 27 June, 2014.
