The Wanted singer Tom Parker diagnosed with inoperable brain tumour aged 32

Boy band star Tom Parker has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour, he has revealed.

The Wanted singer, 32, announced the news to fans on Monday morning.

In a shared message posted on Instagram, he and wife actress Kelsey Hardwick wrote: “Hey guys, you know that we’ve both been quiet on social media for a few weeks and it’s time to tell you why.

“There’s no easy way to say this but I’ve sadly been diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and I’m already undergoing treatment."

They continued: “We decided, after a lot of thought, that rather than hiding away and trying to keep it a secret, we would do one interview where we could lay out all the details and let everyone know the facts in our own way.

“We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna fight this all the way.

“We don’t want your sadness, we just want love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatment options.

“It’s gonna be a tough battle but with everyone’s love and support we are going to beat this. Tom and Kelsey xxx.”

Alongside the message the couple posted a photo of themselves enjoying a sunny day in Brighton with 15-month-old daughter Aurelia.

Hardwick, 30, is pregnant with their second child.

The pair opened up about Parker's shock diagnosis in a joint interview with OK! Magazine.

Parker told the publication: "I'm still in complete shock, it's so much to take in."

He continued: "I knew something wasn't right, but I never expected it to be this. You never think this will happen to you."

His wife added: "It has been a crazy six weeks. We had an inkling that something was wrong in July, but we never could have imagined it was this."

The pop star has begun radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment to prolong his life, OK! reported.

He started treatment at King's College Hospital in London just over a week ago, which will continue for another five weeks, his wife explained.

He and Hardwick had already broken the news to close friends and family, according to the publication.

It added that Parker's former The Wanted bandmates had been a "huge source of comfort" to their friend.

The family were on holiday in Norwich over the summer when Parker suffered a serious seizure.

He then had an MRI scan and a series of tests which revealed his diagnosis, which doctors described as a "worst case scenario".

Parker said his wife was unable to be by his side in the hospital when the news was broken because of Covid-19.

“They pulled the curtain around my bed and said ‘It’s a brain tumour’…," he explained.

“I was in shock. It’s stage four glioblastoma and they’ve said it’s terminal. It was a lot to deal with by myself. I still haven’t processed it.”

He and Hardwick said they had not asked for a prognosis, fearing it would prompt him to "count down the days and not live his life".

The young dad told the magazine: "I need everyone’s love and positivity. I am going to fight this.

"We are already exploring alternative treatments and looking at clinical trials both here and abroad, and our friends have been doing research.

"There are so many stories of people who were given a bad prognosis and are still here five,10, even 15 years later. We’re going to fight this all the way."
