War for the Planet of the Apes teases the end of mankind

‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ gets a new teaser…

And it hints that mankind as we know it has had its day.

A stylish new teaser trailer has appeared for ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’, and it looks as though our time is up. At least, if this is anything to go by. But will humanity be going down without a fight?

Not likely…

The new teaser, titled ‘Witness the End’ depicts scenes from the previous ‘Apes’ movies, intercut with historical footage of human innovation – everything from science, medical and technological advances are chronicled in grainy, retro footage.

And alongside it, an incredible speech by Charlton Heston.

“I refuse to accept the end of man… I believe he will endure, he will prevail. Not because alone among God’s creatures, he has a voice, but because he has a soul – a spirit capable of compassion and endurance. I refuse to accept the end of man.”

No, that’s not from the original ‘Planet of the Apes’ either – it’s actually a speech he gave to open the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library, reading a passage from his own biography.

Chilling stuff, especially since we presumably know how this all ends.

Here’s the official synopsis:

“In War for the Planet of the Apes, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel. After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.”

Thankfully, we don’t have to wait long for a bigger look…

At the very end of the cool, new teaser, it’s revealed that the final full trailer will be arriving tomorrow, 16 May 2017.

And we can’t wait to find out what happens to the future of mankind.

‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ stars Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, and Judy Greer.

Matt Reeves directed the film based on a script he co-wrote with Mark Bomback.

‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ heads to cinemas on 14 July 2017.
