Watch the First 'Star Wars: The Acolyte' Trailer

At the end of 2020, Disney announced a roadmap of its upcoming projects, with a particular emphasis on the Star Wars franchise. Included amongst shows themed around familiar faces like The Mandalorian and Obi-Wan Kenobi was a peculiar project that was overlooked by most -- Star Wars: The Acolyte. Without much context shared at the time, it was noted that it is set during the newly-introduced High Republic era (which takes place 500 to 100 years prior to the Battle of Yavin in the original Star Wars film). From there, the series was finally announced to release in 2024 last year, following news of stars Lee Jung-jae and Carrie-Anne Moss joining the cast.

Now, we have our first publicly shared trailer for the show following its private preview at Star Wars Celebration 2023 last May. The eight-episode series sees a Jedi Master face down a "dangerous warrior from his past" after a spree of crime takes place. Its brief showcase begins with a familiar Star Wars setting -- Padawans learning at the Jedi Temple on Coruscant -- and quickly cuts to close-quarters combat as it reveals that Jedi are being hunted and killed.

Lucasfilm has announced that Star Wars: The Acolyte will debut on June 4 with a special two-episode premiere made available exclusively via Disney+.
