Set 64 years before Katniss Everdeen volunteered as tribute, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes follows a young Coriolanus Snow (Tom Blyth) at a time when his family has fallen from grace in a post-war Capitol.

Coriolanus reluctantly signs up to mentor Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler) from District 12 in the upcoming tenth Hunger Games. And when Lucy's charm wows the people of Panem, Coriolanus spots a chance to change his fate.

With his livelihood in the balance, Coriolanus teams up with Lucy to turn the odds in their favour, leading to a race against time to survive.

Earlier this year, Rachel Zegler revealed that she initially said no to the role in the new movie, although she "regretted it" as soon as she said it:

"I had another project lined up that fell through that got pushed into 2023 and I just kind of put my name back into the mix and got it, and I feel really bad for any of the girls [who when] I put my name back in and they were just like, 'Yup, OK, cool, we'll do it'."

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is released in cinemas on November 17.
