Watch 'The Nun' first teaser trailer and be prepared to jump out of your seat

The Nun is back and she is ready to freak you out once more.

The Nun is the latest film from The Conjuring Universe, and is both a spin-off and prequel to The Conjuring 2 and directed by Corin Hardy.

Set in 1952, the story begins after a young nun at a cloistered abbey in Romania takes her own life, which leads to an investigation led by a priest with a haunted past and a novitiate on the threshold of her final vows.

Together, they confront the same malevolent force of the Nun that terrorised Lorraine Warren (Vera Farmiga) in The Conjuring 2.

Farmiga’s younger sister Taissa Farmiga plays Sister Irene in the film, with Oscar-nominated actor Demian Bichir as Father Burke and Jonas Bloquet (“Elle”) as a local villager called Frenchie.

The cast also includes Charlotte Hope as the abbey’s Sister Victoria, Ingrid Bisu as Sister Oana, and Bonnie Aarons, who returns as the titular character.

The screenplay was written by It: Chapter One scribe Gary Dauberman from a story he and The Conjuring 2 writer-director James Wan came up with.

The Nun heads to cinemas on September 7
