Watch Out, Begbie's Back: Robert Carlyle Spotted On Trainspotting 2 Set
Just the thought of Francis ‘Franco’ Begbie’s flights of incandescent rage are enough to send a shiver down the spine.
- Susan Sarandon wants to direct ‘female-friendly’ porn
- Human Traffic sequel on the cards?
- Spud snapped on Trainspotting set
So let’s hope the 20 years since 'Trainspotting’ hasn’t dulled Robert Carlyle’s skills for creating on-screen psychosis.
The actor has been snapped on the sequel’s Edinburgh set on his first day of filming, 'tache regrown and ready to 'swedge’, as they say north of the border.
And pleasingly, he’s still keen on the loafers and white socks, as seen in Danny Boyle’s first, iconic movie.
The movie, which started shooting on Monday, sees the return of all four main characters – Carlyle’s Begbie, Ewan McGregor’s Renton, Ewen Bremner’s Spud and Jonny Lee Miller’s Sick Boy.
Lee Miller and Bremner have been seen on set too in the Muirhouse area of the city, filming scenes with Boyle.
The first movie made Danny Boyle’s name back in 1996, with its posters adorning the walls of a generation of students.
Picking up the plot from 'Porno’, the sequel penned by Irvine Welsh (who’s also pitched up on set), in 2002, it finds Renton running a nightclub in Amsterdam, Sick Boy as the owner of a pub, Begbie in prison – but about to be released – and Spud trying to kick his long-standing drugs habit.
Trouble beckons when Sick Boy decides to enter the pornography business, financially backed by Renton.
'Trainspotting 2’, or 'T2’ as it appears to be now stylised, is due for release on January 27, 2017.
