'We're Doing a Movie' - Cop Shoots at Actor Holding Prop Gun During Filming of Robbery Scene

Police in Crawfordsville, Indiana, have released bodycam footage showing the moment a police officer fired at an actor who was filming a movie in the city on September 26.

In a statement, the Crawfordsville Police Department confirmed that they responded to a 911 call from a member of the public reporting an armed robbery on North Green Street.

The statement continued, "A masked subject holding a handgun exited the building. Officers made commands for the subject to ‘drop the gun.’ The subject did not immediately comply with the officer’s commands and raised the gun pointing it at the officer. An officer fired a single shot which did not strike the subject. Officers again issued commands for the subject to ‘drop the gun’ at which time he did comply.

“Officers later determined that the firearm was a movie prop and that the subject was part of a movie being filmed at the time of the incident. Those filming the movie had not notified authorities they would be shooting in area business and on public thoroughfares.”

The officer who fired the shot was named by police as Sgt Matt Schroeter. Local media named the actor involved as Jeff Duff.
