Indiana Jones Named 'Greatest Movie Character Of All Time'

The votes are in, and the greatest movie character of all time, according to a poll of 10,000 movie buffs is……..

Indiana Jones.

- Titanic and Braveheart composer dies in plane crash
- Independence Day 2 title announced
- Grease car up for auction

Empire magazine conducted the poll, with everyone’s favourite movie archeologist beating James Bond to the accolade, with 007 coming in second.

Editor Morgan Rees said that the result was ‘truly heartening’.

“It’s not hard to see why he’s so beloved: handsome, heroic, capable, but he’s also got flaws — not only is he afraid of snakes, he also makes mistakes,” he said.

“You can relate to Indy. He’s human, not superhuman.

‘There’s an element of knowingness and irony to him, too, that only heightens his appeal further. Plus of course, he really knows how to rock a fedora.”

Harrison Ford’s other iconic role, that of Han Solo, landed in third place in the top 10 too.

Elsewhere, there were appearances from ‘Fight Club’s Tyler Durden and The Dude from ‘The Big Lebowski’, but sadly just one female character in the top 10 - Sigourney Weaver’s Ellen Ripley from the ‘Alien’ movies, at number seven.
