It’s a dubious honour… but one movie above all others has been pinched the most this year.

And it was (drum roll, please) comicbook smash hit ‘Deadpool’.

According to data from Torrentfreak, which provides an annual list of the most-stolen movies, Ryan Reynolds’ comeback topped the list.

Several sources were taken into consideration, including download stats from public bit torrent trackers.

The site reports that pirated copies of the movie, made by 20th Century Fox, began appearing in February, very shortly after its theatrical release, with ‘thousands’ of people still sharing the movie today on torrenting sites.

Next up was ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’, followed by ‘Captain America: Civil War’, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, and ‘X-Men: Apocalypse at number five of the colon-heavy bunch.

Here’s the top 10 in full:

1. Deadpool
2. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice
3. Captain America: Civil War
4. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
5. X-Men: Apocalypse
6. Warcraft
7. Independence Day: Resurgence
8. Suicide Squad
9. Finding Dory
10. The Revenant

Interestingly, missing from the list is ‘Zootopia’, or ‘Zootropolis’ as it was called in the UK, which somehow avoided a place despite being the third highest-grossing movies of the year (making £832 million worldwide).

Conversely, both ‘Warcraft’ and ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’, which were relative flops at the box office, cleaned up when it came to torrenting.
