Yahoo Movies Why Archie doesn't feature in Prince Philip's great-grandchildren photo
For Royal fans who may be wondering why Archie didn't appear in the photo of Prince Philip surrounded by his great-grandchildren - there's a very straightforward reason for his absence: he hadn't been born yet.
Both Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace posted the previously unseen picture of the Queen and Philip with seven of their great-grandchildren on their official Instagram accounts to commemorate the late royal as a "father, grandfather and great-grandfather".
The great-grandchildren included were Prince George, Prince Louis, Princess Charlotte, Isla Phillips, Lena Tindall, Mia Tindall, and Savannah Phillips. "The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh surrounded by seven of their great-grandchildren at Balmoral Castle in 2018," the Royal Family added the caption.
The photo was taken by aspiring photographer the Duchess of Cambridge at Balmoral in 2018 - which was the year before Archie was born.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex welcomed their first child - full name Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor - in May, 2019, after marrying at St George's Chapel in Windsor in 2018. Harry and Meghan recently confirmed that Archie was to become a big brother, as the royal couple are expecting their second child - a girl.
In a second post shared by Kensington Palace, the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh featured with Prince William and Kate, with Prince George and Princess Charlotte from 2015. Prince Louis was born three years later in 2018.
"Today we share, along with Members of @theroyalfamily, photographs of The Duke of Edinburgh, remembering him as a father, grandfather and great-grandfather," the caption read.
Prince Philip passed away "peacefully" at Windsor Castle on April 9. The royal was 99.
“It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh," the Royal Family wrote in a statement on Instagram.
“His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”
Philip's funeral will take place on Saturday, April 17th, at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle. Only 30 guests are able to attend due to coronavirus restrictions. Prince Harry will of course be attending, but Meghan will remain at their home in the US as she is heavily pregnant.
