Why Exorcist: Believer was moved to avoid Taylor Swift Eras clash
The Exorcist: Believer producer Jason Blum has revealed the reason he moved the film's release forward.
Believer had originally been set to be released on Friday, October 13, however Blum later brought the release forward a week after pop-superstar Taylor Swift announced the worldwide cinema release of her hugely popular Eras tour film on October 13.
"The one thing that scares me to death is Taylor Swift," Blum told Entertainment Weekly of Exorswift's demise.
He added: "We had this amazing Friday the 13th in October, which is the single best day to release a scary movie.

"Obviously, we moved off that [date] and we bowed our head to Taylor Swift. It was too risky to see if 'Exorswift' was going to take or not. People will still have the Exorswift opportunity, so maybe we got to have our cake and eat it too."
Directed by Halloween's David Gordon Green, the latest addition to the Exorcist franchise tells the story of two schoolgirls (played by Lidya Jewett and Olivia Marcum) who are possessed after disappearing for several days.
The film also sees Leslie Odom Jr as protagonist Victor Fielding alongside Ann Dowd, Jennifer Nettles, Okwui Okpokwasili and Raphael Sbarge. Ellen Burstyn reprises the role of Chris MacNeil from the original 1973 film.

The film is part of an ongoing Exorcist reboot, with the second film in the trilogy to be released in spring 2025. Speaking about the reboot back in 2021 Blum promised it would "surprise all the skeptics".
"We had a lot of skeptics about Halloween and David turned them around, and I think he's going to turn it around with The Exorcist," he said.
The Exorcist: Believer will be released in cinemas on October 6. Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour is out in cinemas worldwide on October 13.
