Yahoo Movies Why Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Missed the 2024 Grammys
Jennifer Lopez is on the cusp of releasing her album This Is Me... Now on February 16. She has attended other awards season shows to support her husband, Ben Affleck, including the Golden Globes. So why aren’t Lopez and Affleck at the Grammys this evening? The reason is simple: Lopez performed on Saturday Night Live yesterday in New York City, and the Grammys are in Los Angeles.
Understandably, Lopez is not presenting or performing at the L.A. ceremony tonight after her huge weekend on the other side of the country. She was photographed in New York City earlier Sunday, too:
Lopez also isn’t nominated for any awards this year, giving her one more compelling reason not to go. With a new album imminently coming out, next year will likely be a very different story.
Lopez spoke to Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe last month about what to expect musically from This Is Me... Now.
“[It feels like] authentic rhythms and melodies and, more than anything, a feeling in the music, and I think that’s what a lot of people who heard the album in its early days were feeling, they were like, ‘There’s something true about this,’” Lopez said. “There’s something that feels gritty and honest and raw and real and vulnerable and brave about this music from all of these people, not just from me. I love it. I feel like [the single] ‘Can’t Get Enough’ is a perfect way to kind of come out of the box with this one, because it does have that like, my performance energy.”
