Will Smith gives surprise performance at Brixton Girls' School

The Fresh Prince still knows how to make an entrance, it seems...

Will Smith reduced 940 students at St Martin-in-the-Fields High School for Girls in Tulse Hill into a screaming frenzy after he made an unannounced visit to the south London academy yesterday.

The 44-year-old movie star then treated them to an impromptu performance of his masterpiece - the theme to 'The Fresh Prince of Bel Air'.

He also gave an inspirational talk to pupils, telling them: “If you look at the six people who you spent the most amount of time with - that’s who you are.

“You want to make sure that you’re choosing those people that get to talk to you, because the things that people say are like food - if you eat good food your body with work better, if you eat bad food your body will deteriorate.

“You have to be very, very aggressive about associating with people that are good for your life, because that one person that you’re out with one night that does one dumb thing can ruin the next 15 or 20 years of your life.”

Smith, who was accompanied on a tour of the area by the shadow business secretary and Streatham MP Chuka Umunna and MP Tessa Jowell, reportedly wanted to see 'London's Harlem', and also visited the Electric club in Brixton and had coffee in Brixton Village Market.

“Will wanted to see 'real' London, and it doesn't get more real than Lambeth!” tweeted Umunna.

“Pupils at St Martins, many of whom are my constituents, had no idea Will Smith was coming to school today. Incredible reception.”

Smith is in London with his son Jayden, who is supporting Justin Bieber on his current tour, which has included dates at the O2 Arena.
