Willem Dafoe Joins Zack Snyder’s Justice League As A Good Guy

Willem Dafoe will be one of the good guys in Zack Snyder’s ‘Justice League’, but details on exactly what role he’s set to play are being kept a secret for now.

The 60-year-old actor is the latest to join the mammoth film, following JK Simmons - who joined as Commissioner Jim Gordon back in March.

News of Dafoe signing on comes courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter, as production begins to get into full swing at Warner Bros’ Leavesden studio.

Other than being a good guy, all the report is able to reveal is that Dafoe will appear in both of the planned 'Justice League’ films - which are set for 2017 and 2019.

He joins Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Gal Gadot - reprising their roles as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman respectively - as well as Jason Mamoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash and Ray Fisher as Cyborg.

Amber Heard also recently joined the film as Mera, another heroic figure from Aquaman’s portion of the DC Comics universe.

Interestingly, Dafoe is the second major player from Sam Raimi’s 'Spider-Man’ trilogy to join the film, alongside Simmons who famously portrayed newspaper editor J. Jonah Jameson. Dafoe played the Green Goblin in the 2002 original.

Early speculation has suggested Dafoe’s role may be that of Martian Manhunter - the shape-shifter from Mars who was also an original member of the Justice League. However, there’s nothing concrete yet that suggests he is playing the fan-favourite character.

'Justice League: Part One’ will be released on 17 November 2017, while 'Part Two’ will hit cinemas on 14 June 2019.
