A Wonder Man crew member has died following an on-set accident on Tuesday.
A source with knowledge of the situation confirmed to PEOPLE that a rigger working on the upcoming Marvel Studios show fell off the rafters at CBS Radford Studios in Los Angeles and died on Tuesday morning.
“Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with his family and friends, and our support is behind the investigation into the circumstances of this accident,” a Marvel spokesperson told PEOPLE in a statement.
Deadline was first to report news of the accident.
Wonder Man was not filming at the time of the incident and is slated to start production in March after being delayed due to WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, which ended in September and November respectively.
The Hollywood Reporter confirmed in June 2022 that Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest were teaming up to develop a live-action series for the Marvel character Wonder Man.
The Disney+ series will chronicle Simons Williams, the son of a wealthy industrialist, who turns to the villain Baron Zemo after his company loses out to Tony Stark’s Stark Industry. Once he is given the superpower of extreme strength in the comic books, Baron instructs him to deceive the Avengers but then he actually becomes part of the group.
