Woody Harrelson’s role in the ‘Han Solo’ movie has been confirmed.

Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller spoke to Star Wars.com about Harrelson’s casting, and their words suggest that his role could be as a mentor to Alden Ehrenreich’s younger incarnation of Han Solo.

The duo told the website, “We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody. His ability to find both humour and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.”

We’re still not sure how the latter will be incorporated into the film, but the fact that they made reference to Woody Harrelson’s ability to be both funny and wise suggests that he might be tasked with trying to aid a youthful Han Solo.

Of course, we’re very much reading between the lines with that prediction. But considering that Harrelson is now 55 and Ehrenreich is still the tender age of 27 the pair’s ages would be in sync for such a relationship.

The ‘Han Solo’ cast has quickly become packed with impressive talent. Woody Harrelson and Alden Ehrenreich will be joined by Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, ‘Game Of Thrones’s’ Emilia Clarke in a mysterious role, as well as a younger Chewbacca for the film, which is set just before ‘Star Wars – Episode IV: A New Hope. ‘

Production will begin on the ‘Han Solo’ film in the next few weeks, ahead of the still untitled adventure’s release date of May 25, 2018.
