It’s official – ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ has released its final trailer… and it’s awesome.
Everyone’s favourite mutants are back… and they might just be better than ever in the latest trailer for ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’. Featuring the return of James McAvoy as Professor X, and Michael Fassbender as Magneto, it’s an explosive final look at the upcoming ‘X-Men’ film.
And there’s even a quick cameo from an old friend…
Since the events of ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ it looks as though the X-Universe has moved on. The Sentinels are no longer a threat, and things are… well… better.
“Things are better,” says Professor X. “The world is better.”
But it looks as though it won’t stay that way for very long…
“Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god,” reads the official synopsis. “Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible.”
Of course, Apocalypse (played by Oscar Isaac) is quite the supervillain… and we’ve already seen the havoc he wreaks time and time again. But this latest trailer gives us a rare glimpse at the ‘X-Men’ villain before his transformation…
Quite a difference, compared to the big, blue baddie we’ve seen so far.
“Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto, to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign.”
And this is where it all gets interesting…
“The fate of the Earth hangs in the balance,” they explain. But all is not lost. “Raven with the help of Professor X must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.”
Introducing the new guys – including X-Men classics such as Jubilee (Lana Condor), Storm (Alexandra Shipp), Nightcrawler (Kodi Smit-McPhee), Jean Grey (Sophie Turner) and even Cyclops (Tye Sheridan).
And there’s even a fleeting glimpse at Wolverine’s cameo…
Can they save the Earth from total destruction or will Apocalypse defeat them?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see… but judging from this final trailer, they’ve got their work cut out for them.
‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ heads to cinemas on 18 May 2016.
