Yannick Bollore Set to Keynote at MipTV

PARIS– Yannick Bolloré, Chairman and CEO of French ad giant Havas, is set to deliver a keynote speech at MipTV.

Entitled “Content redefined,” Bollore’s keynote address will discuss the future of media and entertainment on April 14.

Bolloré co-founded the Paris-based company WY Productions with Wassim Beji in 2002. The shingle’s recent film credits includes “Yves Saint Laurent” which earned its star Pierre Niney a Cesar for best actor. He also served as CEO of Bolloré Média, a TV and print group comprising TV channels Direct 8, Direct Star and Direct Cinéma and the advertising company Bolloré Intermedia.

Bollore’s biggest business coup was the €465 million deal he signed with French pay TV giant Canal Plus in 2011 to sell Direct 8, Direct Star and Direct Cinema in exchange for shares in Vivendi, Canal Plus’ parent company. That same year, he joined the Havas Group and was appointed Chairman and CEO in 2013.

“Yannick Bolloré is one of the new French media moguls, building a career across the international film, TV and advertising industries. Delegates will have a unique opportunity to access his insight into television, advertising and entertainment, which feature so heavily at MipTV,” said Laurine Garaude, director of Reed Midem’s television division.

Yannick Bolloré added, “The market is at a turning point. On the one hand, some business models in the industry are being seriously disrupted and more will follow. But on the other hand, consumers have never been thirstier for content than today. It is a great time to be a storyteller.”

Other keynote speakers confirmed at MipTV include Jeremy Darroch, Sky’s CEO.

MIPTV will take place April 13-16 in Cannes.
