Congratulations are in order for YouTubers Jenna Marbles and Julien Solomita, who have announced their engagement after dating for almost 10 years.

Julien announced the news on a Twitch stream last week that he proposed "a little while ago" before showing off their rings.

He said: "A little while ago, I asked Jenna to marry me and she said yes. So, we are engaged."

Jenna, who was once one of YouTube's biggest stars, quit her channel and largely stepped away from social media last year after posting a video about how she was "embarrassed" about some of the content she had produced over the years.

The creator – real name Jenna Mourey – apologised for the "shameful" videos she'd made in the past, with some including racist and derogatory content.

She specifically referred to a 2011 video where she did a blackface impression of Nicki Minaj, calling it "awful".

"I just want to tell you that it was not my intention to do blackface. It doesn't matter, all that matters is that people were offended. It's shameful, it's awful. I wish it wasn't part of my past," she said.

Marbles – who has over 20 million subscribers on YouTube – also apologised for a 2011 rap video that included racist and derogatory phrases, and she said, "It's awful, it doesn't need to exist".

She added: "I'm embarrassed I ever made that."

Marbles continued: "So I think I'm just gonna move on from this channel for now. I don't know if that's forever, I don't know how long that's going to be. I just want to make sure the things I'm putting into the world are not hurting anyone."
