Zack Snyder: Rebel Moon Part Two is a war movie with a much bigger ending

Snyder has worked to ensure that the first film has its own tone and takes the audience on a particular journey that they’ll find satisfying while also leaving them hungry for Part Two.

Rebel Moon premieres on Netflix in the US on December 21 and in the UK on December 22. The sequel will follow in April, 2024.

KIM TAYLOR-FOSTER: What can we expect from Part Two?

ZACK SNYDER: Oh, yes.

KIM TAYLOR-FOSTER: I know you've said it's tonally very different. Can you expand on that?

ZACK SNYDER: Yeah, I think it's tonally very different because it's much more-- I mean, because I think we spend movie one really gathering the team and kind of getting to know the team and getting to know Cora and her backstory. Who is she? What's going on? And I think, movie two, now that we know everyone, it can really take its time. And like, we can delve into the culture of Veldt, and understand the people of Veldt. Meanwhile, of course, the Dreadnought is on its way. And then, we really are set up for, like, a big-- it's more of a war movie, you know, which I think is, it's much different than the tone of the first movie. And it has a bigger ending.

KIM TAYLOR-FOSTER: And more from Belisarius.

ZACK SNYDER: Oh, a bit more from old Belisarius.

SOFIA BOUTELLA: We'll get deeper into the story. We'll get deeper with each and every character. And then, you'll get more context. And you'll get to really enjoy having a relationship with the character. People, I think, will have the chance to associate with one character more than the others, and making them theirs, and maybe, hopefully, develop a relationship with them or an affinity with them that will make them spend more time with them, you know?

But there's generally a lot to say about each character. It goes-- Zack went deeper, psychologically, in their backstory. We can say that. You can see where they come from. You can see how they-- sort of why they ended up where they are. And you can just, also, see way more magical worlds, and more spaceships and planets.

ED SKREIN: And way, way, way more violence.

RAY FISHER: Just know that it only-- it only gets better from where you leave off in Part One of "Rebel Moon," in that it's going to get more immersive, crazier action, all that stuff. So, if you liked Part One, you're going to love Part Two.
