A new Avengers 4 fan theory argues that time-travel will be used to allow for Gamora’s return.

The Guardians of the Galaxy crew member was murdered by her adoptive father Thanos in his pursuit of the Soul Stone, in Avengers: Infinity War, but Zoe Saldana, who plays the assassin, confirmed she would appear in the next Avengers film.

Reddit user SuperheroNick thinks an Instagram Story posted by Saldana in 2017 shows her wearing her costume from the 2014 Guardians of the Galaxy film.

Marvel also released a behind-the-scenes set video in August 2017, to celebrate the Day of Giving charity appeal for victims of Hurricane Harvey, where she and Karen Gillan are both wearing their original GOTG outfits too.

Given that we didn’t see either wearing these uniforms in Avengers: Infinity War, it’s more than likely these suits will appear in Avengers 4 as both movies were being shot back-to-back at Pinewood Studios Atlanta.

So what does this mean for Gamora? It doesn’t confirm that she will be brought back to life but it hints that someone is going to be playing around with time and space in order to revisit the assassin before her death.

Though this could all completely change as the film is currently going through reshoots, which could mean several characters that were meant to come back, or appear, may stay “dead” or never get screen time.

Dave Bautista’s future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is certainly in doubt after he publicly criticised Disney for their firing of Guardians of the Galaxy franchise director James Gunn.

The actor himself is unsure he’ll be back working for Disney, and with production on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 put on indefinite hold, Infinity War might have been the last time fans saw of Drax the Destroyer in action too.

Avengers 4 is expected in cinemas on 26th April, 2019.
