Zombieland 2 To Start Shooting In The Summer

After years of rumours and speculation regarding ‘Zombieland 2′ it’s now been reported that the sequel will finally start production this summer.

According to Bloody Disgusting a variety of casting websites have declared that the com-zom will begin shooting in Atlanta, Georgia, this August.

This is the second bit of positive news regarding ‘Zombieland 2′ to have been released this month, with the logo for the potential film being spotted on display at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

While Sony Pictures are yet to officially confirm the sequel, all of this news suggests that they are going full steam ahead with it, despite the fact that the Amazon series was cancelled back in 2013.

Released all the way back in 2009, ‘Zombieland’ was made for just $23.6 million and ultimately went on to gross $102.4 million. A rousing success both critically and financially, it was actually the highest grossing zombie film in the US until 2013’s ‘World War Z’ stole its crown.

In 2014 it was reported that the studio were getting more serious about ‘Zombieland 2′, and it’s thought that Dave Callaham (’The Expendables’) has written the film and Ruben Fleischer will return to direct.

The only question now is who will return from the original film’s cast, as Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin’s cinematic statuses have each risen since Zombieland was released.

We can expect to hear sooner rather than later if ‘Zombieland 2′ has pulled off a rather major coup by convincing 1, 2, 3, or all 4 of its former stars to reprise their roles, while we can probably now expect ’Zombieland 2′ to be released in either 2017 or early 2018.
