Avengers' Agent Coulson to be resurrected

Popular character in Avengers Assemble will pitch up in the TV series, according to Joss Whedon

The slain Agent Coulson from 'Avengers Assemble' is to be 'resurrected' for the 'S.H.I.E.L.D' TV series according to reports.

Clark Gregg will reprise his role as the S.H.I.E.L.D. agent for the forthcoming small screen series, despite his somewhat irrevocable fate on the big screen.

It's not yet known how he will be weaved back into the plot, but Marvel's Joss Whedon and Kevin Feige have confirmed the involvement of the popular character.

“We all love Clark Gregg, there’s no doubt about that,” said Whedon at New York Comic Con. “From before we made ‘The Avengers’, we discussed whether there was a way for him to be a part of the Marvel Universe, perhaps a part of a TV show even after his death.

“The fact of the matter is, as much as we love him, now that I’m really running Marvel, I like to keep a type of artistic integrity, which means we don’t stretch the bounds of reality.

“He’s headlining the S.H.I.E.L.D. show and always was.”

Whedon is set to co-write the TV series' pilot, so all eyes will be on how Coulson will be brought back – whether it means setting the series before 'Avengers Assemble' or, as some fans are suggesting, that his death was perhaps faked by S.H.I.E.L.D. boss Nick Fury in the film.
