De Niro and Stallone set for boxing flick

Boxing film legends Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone set face each other in the ring.

Cinematic icons Robert De Niro and Sylvester Stallone will star in ‘Grudge Match’, a forthcoming flick about two ageing brawlers who put the gloves on for one last fight.

De Niro and, of course, Stallone are renowned for portraying pugilists onscreen.

De Niro scooped an Oscar for his unforgettable depiction of violent bruiser Jake LaMotta in 'Raging Bull', while Stallone made his name in the 'Rocky' series.

Unsurprisingly then, the movie is being pitched as a LaMotta versus Balboa bout of epic proportions.

However, clues to the film’s content should be provided by the director Peter Segal and screenwriter Doug Ellin. Both are noted for their comedy output.

Segal has helmed ‘The Longest Yard’, ‘Get Smart’ and ‘Anger Management’, while Ellin is best known for his work on TV show ‘Entourage’.

Kevin Hart from ‘The 40 Year Old Virgin’ will star as the fight’s promoter. So, possibly more ‘Rocky V’ than ‘Raging Bull’, then.

Ever the renaissance man, Affleck is expected to star, produce and direct the piece for Warner Bros.
