Directors line up for He-Man reboot

Following Jon M Chu's departure from the project late last year, Sony is reportedly in talks with a number of directors to reboot long-forgotten hero He-Man on the big screen.

Word on the grapevine is that Joe Cornish (Attack the Block) and Rian Johnson (Looper) are among those being considered for the Masters of the Universe remake, along with Andy Muschietti (Mama), Kirk DeMicco and Chris Sanders (The Croods), and Phil Lord and Chris Miller (21 Jump Street).

SchmoesKnow also reports that The Lone Ranger writer Terry Rossio has been brought in to have a look at the script, but whether it will be based on Alex Litvak and Mike Finch's original screenplay - initially titled 'Greyskull' - remains to be seen.

Chu's plans for the movie saw Prince Adam (He-Man) and his sister Adora (She-Ra) cast out of Eternia by the evil Skeletor. Together, the siblings encounter a mythical sorceress who shows them the power of Castle Greyskull, the mystical center of the planet, where they find the fabled Sword of Power.

Chu had cast Channing Tatum in the lead role, but whether he's still attached to the movie is unknown. Tatum does, however, have the support of original He-Man actor Dolph Lundgren, who told The Huffington Post in 2012: "You need somebody who's well built and charming, I suppose. And he can deliver a couple of lines of dialogue, I guess more than I had. I mean, Channing Tatum?

"I don't know that many young actors. But he's got a pretty good body. He's got a naturally athletic body which you need, unless you make the guy wear a suit, like Batman. But if you need real muscles, you need somebody who is built."
