Hopkins: 'I'm not a great actor'
Actor considers his success "a fluke".
Most would agree that Sir Anthony Hopkins is bona fide Hollywood royalty.
But despite winning countless awards over his 40 year career, the actor doesn't believe his talent lives up to the hype.

Speaking at a Disney event in California, the actor told the Daily Mail that he believes his success is based mostly on luck.
"I’ve never considered myself a great actor. I’m a fluke," he said.
"I work hard and I see through the b******* and to this day I have massive energy; I think it keeps a youthfulness in me."

But despite his humble attitude to his career, Hopkins has no plans to retire.
"I never slow down because I love to work," he continued. "I did four films last year. My agent says, 'Would you like to read the phone book next week for them [directors]?' And I say, 'Yeah OK.'
"I could say I’ll do anything if they pay me, but it’s not that. Stella said, 'You’re an actor, it’s been your life, you can’t give it up.'"

While it was friend and fellow actor Kenneth Branagh who convinced Hopkins to take on the role of God king Odin in 2001's Thor, he returns for the superhero sequel this year - a part he says he enjoyed, but didn't always understand:
"I get to play God. They say look before you leap, be careful, but sometimes it’s good not to be… just leap off the ledge.
"The only acting challenge was the incomprehensible script, because this is a world that’s alien to me. I’m not an aficionado of comic books."
"I loved Desperate Dan – he could eat a whole cow pie," Hopkins added. "I don’t know who the hell is who in Marvel comics. Who are the baddies? 'Well, these are the dark people,' they told me. I said, 'OK, whatever you say'.
"I was away for a few weeks in a hotel watching new releases. Some I had to switch off after eight minutes. I couldn’t understand what anyone was saying."
You could've fooled us, Sir Anthony… in fact, you rather did.
Thor: The Dark World is in cinemas from October 30.
