Liam Neeson just added another talent to his “particular set of skills”: rescuing stray dogs.

The action hero turned animal hero was reportedly jogging in New York’s Central Park when he heard a woman shouting that some boys were stoning a dog.

The ‘Non-Stop’ star then “charged down a path” and “confronted three gangbanger wannabe types who were throwing rocks at a stray they’d cornered up against a trash bin,” a witness told ShowbizSpy.com.

“Liam yelled that they’d better stop or he’d knock the c*** out of them – but the punks just swaggered up and warned him to mind his own business.”

“In a fury, he warned them to back off fast – or else!” the source added.

The boys then dropped their stones and ran, apparently after a police officer began to approach.

But Neeson wasn’t finished, and quickly went straight to the poor pup’s aid.

“Liam just shook his head and approached the shivering dog, stroking it while the policeman assessed its injuries,” revealed the witness.

The police officer then thanked the 61-year-old and told him “I’ll take it from here, sir!”.

Liam has recently defended a different group of the city’s animals, as an active campaigner to keep New York’s horse-drawn carriage industry alive, which the Mayor Bill de Blasio wants to shut down.

The star claims the horses are “well cared for”, and that the attraction is a connection with the city’s history.
