Disney World’s security policy is being questioned after a grandmother and grandson found a loaded gun on the bumpy Dinosaur ride at the Animal Kingdom theme park in Florida.

Amazingly, a 44-year-old man then stepped forward to claim the missing pistol, stating the weapon had “fallen out of his back pocket.”

The grandmother handed the weapon, identified as a Cobra .380-calibre semi-automatic pistol, to a park attendant after getting off the ride on Sunday.

Angelo Lista, the gun’s owner, then approached shocked staff to claim back the firearm – before being swiftly escorted out of the theme park

The handgun was reportedly loaded with five hollow-point bullets – designed to expand upon impact and cause maximum tissue damage.

Disney spokesperson, Kathleen Prihoda, said in a statement that the company’s website clearly says “weapons of any kind” are not allowed on Disney property. She reportedly refused to discuss how often firearms are intercepted by staff, or any security measures in general.

Speaking to the Orlando Sentinel, Lista revealed he usually stored the gun in his car’s glove box, but on this occasion he forgot.

“It was my mistake, But I wish I would’ve known more about [the policy],” he told the newspaper.

Disney officials would not comment on whether signs were posted around Disney World spelling out their security policy.

Around 47 millions guests visit Disney World, Florida, each year – often uninhibited by security measures. Staff are free to inspect bags for restricted items, by guests themselves are rarely searched.
