Man of Steel writer talks rumours

David S. Goyer addresses the internet chatter over the anticipated Superman reboot

David S. Goyer, the screenwriter behind Christopher Nolan's 'Batman' trilogy, has been addressing some of the wild rumours and speculation around his current project, Superman reboot 'Man of Steel'.

Speaking to film blog I Am Rogue, and while still remaining tight-lipped, he riddled on the rumours that Lex Luthor won't be featured in the film, saying: “I don’t think anyone has ever confirmed that we haven’t included him.”

This may mean that Luthor is involved somehow, but it could also be misdirection around the closely-guarded plot of Zack Snyder's film.

Meanwhile, on the rumours of Rebecca Buller potentially playing a female Jimmy Olsen, he would not be drawn, saying: “I can't comment on that.”

Talk of a female incarnation of the Daily Planet snapper began after screenshots of Lawrence Fishburne, who plays Planet editor Perry White, emerged of him running with Buller from a collapsing building in the trailer.

And on Fishburne's appointment, Goyer spoke about the 'silly' so-called controversy of switching White's character's race in casting.

“I Thought it was an awesome choice,” he said. “I think that it is silly that people are like, ‘You can’t have a black guy named White.’ But I’m like, well what about Barry White? I thought that was stupid. You just want to get the best actor.”

'Man of Steel' is due out on June 14, and also stars Michael Shannon as General Zod, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Russell Crowe as Jor-El and Henry Cavill as Superman himself.
