New Hobbit poster teases Smaug

A new poster for Hobbit sequel 'The Desolation of Smaug' has been released which teases the titular gold-hoarding dragon.

Another promo image showcases one of the book’s most memorable scenes as the dwarves barrel down a raging river.

The images were uncovered by TheOneRing.net, and while not the best quality certainly give us an insight into how director Peter Jackson and co are going to play the full-reveal of the series’ big bad.

Starring Martin Freeman, Richard Armitage and Sir Ian McKellan, ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug’ also brings returning elf Orlando Bloom back into the mix alongside ‘Lost’ star Evangeline Lilly.

Part two of Jackson’s final saunter into Middle Earth is set for release 13 December 2013.
