New Riddick footage unveiled

It's never quite a walk in the park for Richard B. Riddick...

And if this monstrous first footage from 'Riddick' is to be taken as any indication, this could be his tightest spot yet.

Confronted by a fearsome alien creature, there's a glimpse of both Riddick's trademark peepers and his monster-evasion skills... which improve as he goes on, to be fair.

In the film, Riddick is betrayed by the Necromongers and left for dead on a desolate planet, fighting for his survival against alien predators.

Bounty hunters collect from around the galaxy to take him down, but he's got other vengeful plans up his sleeve and sets about returning to his home planet of Furya to save it from certain doom.

The film sees Vin Diesel once again teamed up with director David Twohy, who helmed both 'Pitch Black' and 'The Chronicles of Riddick'.

Most interesting, however, is the film's relatively miniscule budget of $38 million, a fraction of what large scale sci-fi films usually cost.

From the effects in this clip, Twohy appears to be making his money go a long way.

Joining Diesel on the bill are 'Battlestar Galactica's Katee Sackhoff, Dave Batista and Karl Urban.

It's due out on September 6 in the US, and September 4 in the UK.
