No January Jones for the X-Men sequel

Mad Men star confirms she won't be returning to play Emma Frost in the Bryan Singer sequel

January Jones has said she's not going to appear in 'X-Men: Days of Future Past'.

The 'Mad Men' star played Emma Frost in Matthew Vaughn's 'X-Men: First Class', but unlike some of her co-stars, she has not been asked to reprise her role by director Bryan Singer, who has stepped in to helm the sequel.

“I haven't been asked back,” she told film site Collider, before adding: “It's called 'Days of Future Past' or something.

“No, they're going into another time period, or they're going back and forth from different time periods and Emma's not in that. Not in what they're doing.”

'X-Men: First Class' stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult are all set to appear in the sequel.

They join a sturdy cast of previous 'X-Men' alumni, including Sirs Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, Anna Paquin, Ellen Page, Hugh Jackman and Halle Berry.

Joining them will be 'Game of Thrones' star Peter Dinklage and Omar Sy, with Dinklage playing a mystery villain.

The film will focus on the 'Days of Future Past' storyline from the comic books, which was first established in 1981, dealing with a dystopian alternate future in the 'X-Men' universe.

McAvoy and Fassbender will be going head-to-head, McAvoy as the younger Charles Xavier (and Stewart as the older version) and Fassbender as Magneto, alongside McKellen.

It's due for release on July 18, 2014.
