Pacific Rim: Epic new WonderCon trailer

‘2,500 tons of awesome…’

An epic extended look at Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Pacific Rim’ has crashed online, giving us a bit of the back story behind the colossal monster movie mash-up.

The footage was premiered at California’s WonderCon to a reportedly positive reaction, and you can see why. Any trailer that features a giant robot using a cargo ship to club a massive monster in the chops get’s our attention too. Simple things…

‘Pacific Rim’ sees colossal creatures, known as Kuiju, rise from the deep to give humanity an apocalyptic arse-kicking. Sensible as ever, mankind retaliates by constructing equally oversized robots, dubbed Jaegers, to take on the massive monsters at their own game.

‘Pan’s Labrynth’ and ‘Hellboy’ director Del Toro described the project as a “beautiful poem to giant monsters”, but we think ‘Godzilla’ vs. ‘Transformers’ sums it up better.

‘Pacific Rim’, starring Charlie Hunnam, Rinko Kikuchi and Idris Elba, storms in to UK cinemas 12 July 2013.
