Peter Jackson fancies directing Doctor Who

Hobbit director: Just name a time and place, and I'll be there!

Peter Jackson is a huge fan of ‘Doctor Who’, and would love to direct an episode of the show.

Star Matt Smith told the Radio Times that he'd love to shoot a 'Who' adventure in New Zealand, where Jackson is based.

"I think it would be an absolutely wonderful place to film ‘Doctor Who’,'' he said. ''I'm told it's glorious. I'm told it's quite similar to England.

“Let's get Peter Jackson to direct [an episode] and go and make it in New Zealand," he added. "I would love to, I will campaign endlessly to come over and film there.”

Responding in the Waikato Times, ‘The Hobbit’ director also sounded keen.

"I'm a huge Doctor Who fan, and I think Matt's fantastic. Just name a time and place, and I'll be there!''

The director and Smith even discussed the show at this year’s Comic-Con.

Jackson is currently filming his three-part ‘Hobbit’ adaptation in New Zealand, and also shot most of 'The Lord of the Rings’ trilogy there.
