More Star Wars, you say? Well there's a brand new animated series from the galaxy far, far away coming this month and it's one of the highlights of what to watch on Disney Plus in May.
But that's not all there is in terms of new movies and TV shows. Abbott Elementary is returning to our screens, along with the thrills and spills of a dramatic footballing story in Welcome to Wrexham. The latter is a great way to get a Ryan Reynolds fix before Deadpool & Wolverine arrives.

Shardlake | 1 May
There are dozens of murder mysteries on TV all the time, but very few of them bring that sort of drama in tandem with the intrigue of Tudor-era politics. That's what happens in Shardlake, adapted from the novels penned by the late CJ Sansom, who died this week.

Arthur Hughes is the title character — a lawyer sent by Thomas Cromwell (Sean Bean) to investigate a suspicious death at a monastery. This soon takes Shardlake into a more complex web of deceit, bringing in other deaths and historical figures. It sounds like a very fun setup for a crime series.
Welcome to Wrexham S3 | 3 May
It would have taken a pretty hard-hearted person not to shed a tear at the events of Welcome to Wrexham season 2, as the Red Dragons finally escaped the National League via a dramatic promotion push. This time around, the club is in League Two and, thanks to some very speedy work from the doc team, we're getting the series within days of the season coming to an end.

Now, Wrexham's familiar faces — and some newbies — have to compete against teams with bigger budgets and better players than before. Can they step up to the challenge? Well, it's fair to say that there's plenty of emotion in store, whether you know how the season played out or not.
Star Wars: Tales of the Empire | 4 May
Of course, with Star Wars Day celebrated on 4 May as ever, Disney has decided to give us all something new from that world. This time around, it's a new animated show, exploring the glory days of the Galactic Empire through the perspective of two characters from different parts of the Star Wars timeline.
Fallen Jedi Barriss Offee appeared in The Clone Wars, while witchy villain Morgan Elsbeth helped bring the evil Thrawn back in last year's Ahsoka. Now, we get to follow their divergent paths through the era of the Empire in this six-episode series. And after all, new Star Wars shows are always worth a bit of excitement.
Abbott Elementary S3 Part 1 | 8 May
Abbott Elementary is back, bringing audiences back into the Philadelphia public school system, following idealistic, inspiring teachers attempting to manage disadvantaged kids. All of the main cast members from the ensemble are back to bring the laughs again, including Quinta Brunson, Tyler James Williams, and Sheryl Lee Ralph.
There's already a fourth season confirmed to be on the way, so it's well worth diving into the show now and keeping up with everything happening in the classrooms.
Let It Be | 8 May
The Beach Boys | 24 May
Two of the most famous and fascinating bands of the 1960s are getting the documentary treatment on Disney+. The Beatles take centre stage in Let It Be, which isn't actually a new movie at all, but a restoration of Michael Lindsay-Hogg's 1970 movie, featuring the band's famous rooftop concert. It's the first time the film has been made available to watch at home since its initial cinema release.
The other big music doc coming to the platform in May is a new one. The Beach Boys follows the story of the surf rock legends and their various musical reinventions, with dozens of new interviews — including Brian Wilson himself. With summer just around the corner, the time is right to crank up the band's biggest hits and explore their musical journey.

Camden | May
With Amy Winehouse in the pop culture conversation once again thanks to the release of Sam Taylor-Johnson's biopic Back To Black, Disney is shining a light on the north London suburb that she called home in this new music documentary series Camden.
Executive produced by Dua Lipa, the series will reveal the extraordinary untold stories of how the lives and careers of many of today’s most iconic music acts were shaped by Camden. Dua Lipa, Chris Martin, Little Simz, Nile Rodgers, Boy George, and Yungblud are among the many names interviewed for the seris along with Pete Doherty and Carl Barat of The Libertines, Mark Ronson, Questlove, Black Eyed Peas, Soul II Soul’s Jazzie B, Chuck D and Sister Bliss from Faithless.
