Rumour: Man Of Steel to reference Batman?
Superman reboot could set up Caped Crusader’s return.
Incoming Superman reboot ‘Man Of Steel’ is rumoured to reference Batman.
Zack Snyder’s Superman movie will apparently namedrop the Bat’s business venture, Wayne Enterprises, as well feature a ‘more direct’ reference to the Caped Crusader himself.
The potential clang of Batman’s name isn’t thought to relate to Christian Bale’s character, or even Christopher Nolan’s ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy, but will instead pave the way for Warner Bros.’ future exploration into the wider DC universe - and yes, a brand new Batman.

Courtesy of movie blog Comic Book Therapy, this development is filed strictly under ‘Rumour’ as they don’t quote any sources. However, Snyder himself recently admitted to Empire that he has made “references to the DC Universe [in Man of Steel’], just to let you know that world is out there,” so you never know.
The success of ‘Man Of Steel’ is also expected to decide the fate of Warner Bros.’ potential superhero team-up movie ‘The Justice League’, as well as that of any other possible DC film franchise. So, if this bat-shaped rumour is true though, then things are certainly looking up for the problem-plagued project, especially after the script was reportedly ‘thrown out’ by the studio back in February.
In the past, Batman movies have featured numerous references to the Man of Steel - including in unforgivable 1997 flop ‘Batman & Robin’, when George Clooney’s annoyed Caped Crusader tells Robin ‘This is why Superman works alone.’
Last month’s epic ‘Man Of Steel’ trailer also teased a tower sporting the name ‘LexCorp’ - hinting at the future appearance of Superman’s nemesis, and owner of the company, Lex Luthor.
‘Man Of Steel’ is out in the UK 14 June 2013.
