The Wolverine: new pics of Logan’s femme fatales

Three new images for upcoming X-Men spin-off ‘The Wolverine’ have landed online, focusing on Logan’s female friends: knife-throwing love interest Mariko, deadly Yakuza Assassin Yukio, and infamous Marvel villain Viper.

Ok, so they’re not all that friendly. Check out the images below.

Mariko, played by Japanese model Tao Okamoto, is Logan’s love interest. The daughter of a Yakuza crime boss (who happens to be main bad guy Shingen Yashida), her character apparently knows a thing or two about karate and knife-throwing. We can see what he saw in her...

Next up is Yukio. Actress Rila Fukushima’s character is one of the deadliest assassin’s in Shingen’s crew. Check out the recent first official trailer, which she featured heavily in, to see all kinds of bad guy slaying, bike riding awesomeness from her.

Finally, we get Viper - played by Svetlana Khodchenkova - most recognisable to us as Tom Hardy’s ill-fated girlfriend Irina in slick espionage adventure ‘Tinker, Taylor, Solder, Spy’. Viper is a deadly regular in the Marvel Universe – she’s handy with a sword. One-time ally of Wolverine, she’s now an all-round-bad-egg. Nice suit though.

Here’s the synopsis:

“Based on the celebrated comic book arc, this epic action-adventure takes Wolverine, the most iconic character of the ‘X-Men’ universe, to modern day Japan. Out of his depth in an unknown world he faces his ultimate nemesis in a life-or-death battle that will leave him forever changed. Vulnerable for the first time and pushed to his physical and emotional limits, he confronts not only lethal samurai steel but also his inner struggle against his own immortality, emerging more powerful than we have ever seen him before.”
